May 23, 2008 - The original Valhalla Knights offered PSP owners a chance to customize a party of six characters and head into real-time battles with monsters and baddies galore. Now that Valhalla Knights 2 is on the way, we asked the folks over at XSEED Games to break down some details on the upcoming title's story, job classes and some prominent gameplay features. Check out your options for character creation below, because with Valhalla Knights 2, you can opt to play as a rocket-toting machine warrior or a dog. No joke. That, combined with the fact that the game features a melancholic goddess losing her wings in battle, means Valhalla Knights 2 could be quite an intriguing title.
Story
On the Day of Judgment, the gods abandoned mankind. Yet on that sorrowful day, one goddess descended from the Heavens and wrought destruction that tore up the land and parched the oceans. Despite this, mankind refused to accept such a miserable fate. A lone witch fought against the Goddess and managed to cut a wing from her back. But the Goddess could not be so easily defeated. Feathers from the fallen wing pierced both plants and animals and twisted them into monsters called Hostiae, which struck at the land and people in retaliation. Once this was done, the Goddess escaped into the heart of the world to recover. In the wake of such chaos, the witch left behind the White Crystal that would one day reveal where the Goddess slept, so this divine conflict could be brought to a close.
A thousand years passed, and two organizations rose to power. One, the Obviam Deis, seeks to destroy the Goddess, while the other, Decem Pennae, wishes to coexist peacefully with her. The two groups race to uncover the White Crystal so they can carry out their respective desires.
And now, the Kingdom of Weiselheim is recruiting Latroci, those born with the will of the witch and a destiny to protect the people from the Hostiae. One Latroci, an orphan brought up during the hardest of times, rises up to this challenge and yearns for the title of Royal Latroci of Weiselheim and quests to find the Goddess, wherever she slumbers.
